my journey to drafting

After a decade in the film & video industry, I could see that the use of AI and focus on short-form social media content was changing the landscape for creators like myself. In light of this, I decided that this was a good time to pursue a new career in CAD, where many of my skills are transferrable and a greater value is placed on the precision that I value in my work.

After a year of study at HVCC, I've gained over 500 hours of experience creating drawings, modeling, and harnessing the power of MEP/VDC in programs like AutoCAD, Revit, Solidworks, Onshape, & Civil 3D. I've spent countless hours prototyping and 3D printing with software from Bambu, Prusa, Creality, and other open-source software packages. While I came into the program with 8yrs of manufacturing experience from my time running Withered Hand Electronic Audio Effects, I've become a much more confident drafter, not only in terms of my skills creating drawings, but also in terms of the precision I'm capable of.

Below you'll find my portfolio in PDF form, as well as a couple examples of the animations I've created to bridge the gap between my VFX career and the CAD career I'm looking forward to. If you'd like to get in contact, feel free to use the form below or send an email to PetePerryDesign@gmail.com
